Sidebar Overview
The sidebar is the left panel of the Studio workspace. It lists all intents belonging to the currently selected domain and provides access to domain switching.
What's in the Sidebar
When expanded, the sidebar contains:
- New Intent button — A full-width blue button labeled "New Intent" at the top. Clicking it starts the intent creation flow.
- Search bar — An input below the New Intent button with a magnifying glass icon and the placeholder "Search intents...". A clear (×) button appears when text is entered.
- Intent list — A scrollable list of all intents in the selected domain. Intents can be starred, archived, or in various streaming/working states.
- Domain Selector — Fixed at the bottom of the sidebar, separated by a horizontal rule. Lets you switch between domains or edit the current domain.
Collapsed State
When the sidebar is collapsed (via Cmd+B / Ctrl+B or the sidebar toggle icon), it reduces to a narrow icon strip containing:
- New Intent button (small blue icon-only button, with tooltip "New Intent")
- Search Intents icon button (with tooltip "Search Intents") — clicking this expands the sidebar and focuses the search input
The domain selector is hidden when collapsed.
The header control is named Hide Intents navigation when expanded and Show Intents navigation when collapsed. Activate it with Enter or Space. Your search and conversation draft remain in place while navigation is hidden. If you collapse while focus is inside navigation, focus returns to the header control.
Expanded State
In the expanded state the sidebar shows the full intent list with titles, star indicators, and activity states. The width is resizable by dragging the handle between the sidebar and the chat panel.
You can also Tab to Intent navigation width and use Left/Right arrows to resize in 10-pixel steps, or Home/End to choose the minimum/maximum width. The Workspace panel width handle supports the same keys for the right-hand panel.
New Intent Button
The New Intent button is disabled when the currently selected domain is archived. A tooltip reads "Cannot create intents in archived domain" in that case.
Clicking the button when active opens the source selection dialog, where you choose which data sources to associate with the new intent before the chat workspace opens.
Search Functionality
The search bar filters the intent list in real time as you type. Search matches against the intent title (case-insensitive).
- Click the × button at the right of the search field to clear the query and show all intents.
- If no intents match the search query, the list is empty (no "no results" message is shown).
- Pressing the Search Intents icon in the collapsed state automatically expands the sidebar and focuses the search input.
